Іn 2006 Lviv Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra was awarded the ‘‘Academic’’ honorary title. It had been operating for over two centuries when, in 1933, the orchestra became incorporated as the Philharmonic Orchestra which it is today.It conducts symphonic, chamber, jazz, and pop concerts, and organizes musical festivals, literature and art activities, and meetings and exhibitions.
In the early twentieth century the orchestra was led by such guest conductors as Gustav Mahler, Richard Strauss, Ruggero Leoncavallo.
Today the orchestra successfully tours such European countries as Poland, Italy, Spain, France, Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands. With the quality acoustics, a beautiful concert hall, and frequent art exhibits in the lobby, this is a special venue, especially for those who appreciate the fine arts.
