Lviv Convention Bureau organized a workshop for the representatives of meetings industry on how to win an international conference. What ICCA is, how the associations work and how to write a winning bid book – key topics covered by speakers from Istanbul / Amsterdam, New York and Ternopil.

 

Professional conference organizers, hotels and tourism representatives, university lecturers from Lviv, Kyiv and Dnipro took part in the workshop on July 27.

Regional director ICCA Europe Elif Balci Fisunoglu spoke about ICCA and shared the tips of writing proposals: “To make your bid book a winning one speak about your advantages, about convenient logistics and show your awareness of the topic. When considering bids, organizers identify those that are as close as possible to the goal of their event.

Anatoliy Sachenko, Ukrainian scientist and inventor, honorary member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), spoke about the role and work of his association.

On the example of IEEE, he explained that collaboration with academic associations gives additional chances for the success of the application, and also enhances the image of the inviting part.

Marketing specialist with more than 30 years of experience with world-class clients Christine Graf believes that it’s important to speak with the inviting party on the same language: “When it comes to IT conference or medical congress, you should understand that the rhetoric for one and the other is totally different. Always pay a lot of attention to the quality and design – it is noticed immediately. Be creative – don’t use the same templates. And do not give up. It is difficult to write a winning proposal from the first time, but everything comes with practice.”
